AIDS Ministries

Higher Ground

Higher Ground is a local community for persons living with HIV & AIDS; it is a space of interfaith community for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

One day each month a number of devoted All Saints parishioners provide and join in lunch with this community in roles as cooks, servers, listeners, and friends. Over the years, All Saints has offered support and encouragement at Higher Ground through parish annual giving, grounds care and maintenance, as well as Christmas gift bags for individuals and households. Members of All Saints have also been part of formal and informal Care Teams for people with AIDS.

An All Saints parishioner and priest, Rocky Rachal, currently serves in a weekly ministry as facilitator for BrotherCare, a men’s support group on site. A number of parishioners serve on Higher Ground’s “mission group” that gathers monthly for reflection on the ministry’s joys and challenges.

Triad Health Project

Triad Health Project (THP) provides emotional and practical support to individuals living with HIV/AIDS, to their loved ones, and to those at risk for HIV/AIDS; it implements strategies to educate those at risk and the community about HIV/AIDS; and advocates locally, regionally, and nationally for individuals and groups infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. THP (the parent organization for Higher Ground) is currently directed by Addison Ore, an All Saints parishioner.

Winter Walk for AIDS

On the first Sunday in December – rain, snow, sleet or sunshine – each year thousands of people walk to raise money for Triad Health Project and to serve as public reminders of the AIDS crisis in our community and around the world. All Saints has had walkers on every Winter Walk of its long history, encouraging others in this critical outreach.
